Pork Producer Commits to 300K Crate-Free Pigs…. #bbq #foodies #canada

DuBreton, a producer of organic and certified humane-raised and handled pork, committed to raising 300,000 more cage-free pigs by 2018.

This move represents an investment of $30 million.

Quebec-based DuBreton already supplies antibiotic-free and GMO-free pork to the naturals and organic market and retailers, including Whole Foods Market, Chipotle Mexican Grill, and Canadian grocery chains.

The company’s product lines include DuBreton Organic and Rustic Farm Pork Products.

Pigs are conventionally raised in a crate that measures approximately 2 feet by 7 feet that is equipped with bars on all sides.

DuBreton’s pigs are raised crate-free, meaning they are allowed to roam in a communal environment with other pigs, which is considered a humane and ethical practice.
